Rickshaw driver allegedly assaults woman

MUZAFFARGARH: A rickshaw driver allegedly subjected a married woman to the physical assault which came out the fourth consecutive incident related to a sexual offence in the district with offenders still at large, police said Thursday.
The police said the victim, identified as Bibi*, had left for Daera Din Panah to collect a stipend for her children from Easypaisa mobile shop by rickshaw owned by Muhammad Zafar.
According to the victim lady, Zafar took her to his own home rather than the desired destination, where he subjected her to rape, while an accomplice of him remained as a guard outside the home to protect the suspected rapist. The incident took place within the limits of Dera Din Panah police station.
The local police have registered a case against the suspected rickshaw driver after taking out the victim’s medical to prove the offence.
Earlier, the police said that a 16-year-old girl, Nimra*, was raped a day earlier in a similar way when a rickshaw driver identified as Muhammad Kamran picked to leave her in her hometown called Noor Kubra.
The police were said to have apprehended the alleged criminal after registering a case on the report of her father. Catching the accused involved in the said offence came out as sole police success in all said crimes related to a physical assault committed one after another here.
In another incident, a teen-aged girl was molested during her morning walk the day before yesterday here.
The accused killed her brother when the latter tried to restrain the offender from moving against his sister after reaching out on the spot.
Similarly, a woman was raped at midnight on May 13 in front of her children during a robbery bid. The police registered cases but the accused were yet to be arrested whereas their search was on what it was claimed.
