Research Lab on Natural Products Inaugurated at Karakoram University

Gilgit: A state-of-the-art Research Laboratory on Natural Products has been inaugurated at Karakoram International University (KIU). 

The laboratory was officially opened by the renowned scientist and Mustafa Prize laureate, Prof Dr Iqbal Choudhary, who has also served as Coordinator General of COMSTECH and Director of the International Center for Chemical Sciences at the University of Karachi.

The inauguration ceremony coincided with the 1st International Conference on the Chemistry of Medicinal Plants 2024 and was attended by KIU Vice Chancellor Dr Atta Ullah Shah, senior officials, professors, and students.

This laboratory marks a significant milestone in the university’s pursuit of excellence in scientific research and discovery.

 Equipped with cutting-edge technology and facilities, it will focus on the research and development of natural products, driving innovation and advancement in the field. The laboratory is equipped with modern facilities essential for natural products chemistry and will be used for training MS and PhD students of the GB region.

Dr Iqbal Choudhary’s presence at the inauguration highlights the importance of this laboratory in the scientific community. 

His contributions to the field of natural products research have been invaluable, and his involvement with this laboratory will undoubtedly inspire and guide the next generation of researchers.
