Rescue Receives 18,724 Disturbing Calls In May
Muzaffargarh: Rescue 1122 saw a rising number of disturbing calls at their emergency helpline, as 18724 out of 26096 calls were disturbing calls during May, which not only affected the performance of the officials but also caused the loss of public lives and properties, said Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer (DEO) Dr Hussain Mian.
Presiding over a meeting to review the performance of Rescue 1122 on Saturday, Dr Hussain Mian expressed concern that people are facing trouble contacting the emergency helpline as the phone went off due to disturbing calls.
He stated, “Rescue 1122 has received 26096 calls on the helpline, out of which only 4037 were real emergency calls, including 624 of road accidents, 2966 of medical emergencies, 29 of fire, two of drowning in water, two of building collapse, and 284 other emergency calls.”
DEO Mian further said that rescue officials have responded to each call within an average of seven minutes.
Dr.Hussain added, “Rescue officials have rescued 3943 people, out of whom 1232 were provided first aid, 2643 were shifted to hospitals, and 68 people died on the spot.”
Rescue 1122 DEO also voiced concern about the increase in dog bite cases, the majority of which were female and pediatric patients. He exhorted the district administration to begin an extensive anti-stray dog campaign. APP
