Officials informed the meeting that the Directorate General of Archaeology Punjab has identified the boundaries of the old city using historical maps and modern urban analysis, and initial heritage protection limits have been defined.

In coordination with the DGO Office and the Auqaf Department, efforts are underway to verify land ownership and identify buildings for restoration and façade improvement.

The meeting was further briefed that under the Punjab Saaf Pani Authority programme, 1,180 water filtration plants are being installed across six districts of Rawalpindi Division, including 219 plants in four tehsils of Rawalpindi District.

Work on the project is progressing at pace, with completion expected by June 30, 2026. A 24/7 helpline (1336) has also been established to address public complaints, while field teams continue site inspections to ensure quality and gather feedback.
