Remains of Gandhara civilization found in Rajanpur district

Traces of Gandhara civilization have been found in Rajanpur district of Punjab, The PenPk.com has learnt.
The remains of the ancient heritage were found during excavations at Dalu Rai Ther in Rajanpur. The remains are reported dating back to the 2nd century AD.
A team of archaeologists from the Archaeological Department found artifacts of the Gandhara civilization.
According to Muhammad Hassan, deputy director, Punjab Archaeological Department, “What we have found shows that this is a city about 2000-year-old.
The city settled here in the first or second century and remained here until the eighth century. The Kushan, Sassanid, and Gupta tribes of the Buddhist period settled at the locality.
Valuable statues, coins, pottery, and seals have also been recovered during the excavations.
The deputy director says that from here we have got Sasanian things, Gupta Parade things and a couple of statues which are very kind.
Copper coins are also found.
Investigations to explore the history of the heritage site are also underway into why this place in Jampur is known as Dalu Rai Ther. As per archaeologists, scientific excavations are underway which will help in further research.
