Releases Next Generation Report 2023 To Study Youth’s Values, Beliefs & Actions

Islamabad: A research study titled “The Next Generation Report 2023” is launched by the British Council on Friday. It comprehensively examines the perceptions of the country’s young population, between 16 and 34 years of age, focusing particularly on their views, values, beliefs, and actions.

The issues Pakistan’s young confront today are thoroughly evaluated in the report, along with how they affect their choices and decisions and the actions they are taking to improve their circumstances.

It investigates the factors that will help young people become involved, content, and active citizens in their nations. In order to bring together Pakistan’s greatest minds and find ways to capitalise on the enthusiasm and talent of Pakistani young, it attempts to obtain a greater understanding of their needs, goals, and readiness.

The study demonstrates that key stakeholders, particularly those involved in politics and economics, are crucial to this evolution. Young Pakistanis have the capacity to change the country’s course toward economic and social progress if they are empowered, assisted and encouraged to do so. They can lead the nation toward regressive social turmoil and political divisiveness if dissuaded or left on their own.

The recommendations and key findings of the report are around key areas including youth’s mindset, national economy, social marginalisation, generation gap, civic engagement and activism, and emerging challenges which include employment and education.

British Council Pakistan Country Director Amir Ramzan said, “The British Council supports the growth of platforms and networks that allow young people a voice in society. Since nearly two-thirds of Pakistan’s population is under 30, it’s critical that the opinions of young people on important issues guide current and future policy decisions. Our Next Generation Research Report will help to forward this discussion.”

British Council Pakistan Head of Non-Formal Education Wajiha Irfan stated, “The project intends to start a critical discussion about the needs of Pakistan’s young people and how the institutions of the nation should change and adapt to help them reach their full potential. This report is much needed so Pakistan can leverage the power of its youth.”
