Rawalpindi: In a recent announcement, Director General (DG) Kinza Murtaza of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) urged citizens to verify the status of housing societies before making any investments.

Murtaza emphasized that potential investors should visit the RDA’s official website at www.rda.gop.pk or the RDA office to check the legality of housing societies.

She reported that out of the numerous schemes in Rawalpindi, 71 are approved, 74 are under process, and a staggering 359 are identified as illegal.

To ensure public awareness, the RDA’s website is regularly updated with the latest status of housing schemes. Murtaza also highlighted that RDA officials are actively monitoring both approved and ongoing schemes and are pursuing legal action against those deemed illegal.

In recent actions, RDA has issued legal notices to 560 schemes, with 218 societies facing challenges and cases being forwarded to magistrate courts. Additionally, 221 FIRs have been lodged against violators of housing regulations.

The authority has also sealed offices of 184 schemes and demolished illegal constructions, including 200 society gates.

Further support from the FIA Cyber Crime Wing has been sought to curb illegal advertising and promotional activities related to unapproved schemes.

The enforcement of the Punjab Development Authority’s Private Housing Scheme Rules 2021 continues to be a priority, with RDA committed to taking stringent legal measures against rule violators.
