Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has launched emergency spraying and fogging operations in response to a sudden increase in dengue cases in the area.
Chief Cantonment Executive Officer Syed Ali Irfan Rizvi has ordered comprehensive measures to eliminate the dengue virus and enforce strict compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
To raise awareness, the RCB has displayed banners and posters throughout the wards, and field surveillance teams are actively inspecting locations such as tyre shops, factories, hotels, and graveyards for potential mosquito breeding sites. Fogging operations are being conducted in various neighborhoods to combat the outbreak.
The CEO has urged the public to maintain cleanliness around their homes and eliminate standing water, which can serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes. He is personally overseeing the anti-dengue teams to ensure effectiveness.
Additionally, a dedicated dengue ward has been established at the Cantt General Hospital to manage affected individuals. Media Coordinator Ali Raza stated that a coordinated plan has been developed to address the current dengue challenge, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for violations of dengue SOPs.
Recently, 12 dengue cases have been reported across different wards of the RCB, highlighting the urgency of these preventive actions.
