Rawalpindi reports 30 new dengue cases in 24 hours

Rawalpindi: The District Health Authority (DHA) Rawalpindi on Tuesday reported 30 new dengue cases during the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of confirmed infections this year to 1,294.
According to the DHA’s daily report, no dengue-related deaths have been recorded so far, while 41 patients are currently under treatment in various hospitals across the district.
Since January, health teams have screened 19,801 suspected cases as part of the ongoing anti-dengue campaign. Around 1,359 vector surveillance teams inspected 4,694 houses and 3,632 potential breeding sites, finding larvae in 1,895 locations. More than 11 million larvae were destroyed during the operations.

The authority has also intensified enforcement measures, registering 4,694 FIRs, sealing 1,895 properties, issuing 3,632 challans, and imposing fines totaling over Rs 11.1 million for violations of anti-dengue regulations.
Most of the new cases were reported from urban and peri-urban areas. Potohar Town recorded eight cases, followed by seven in the Municipal Corporation area, six in Potohar Rural, five in Rawalpindi Cantonment, three in Chaklala Cantonment, and one in Taxila Cantonment.
DHA spokesman Dr. Waqar urged citizens to take preventive measures, including eliminating stagnant water and using mosquito repellents, to help curb the spread of dengue during the peak transmission season.
He added that the authority has adopted a “zero-tolerance policy” toward staff negligence. “Strict action will be taken against health officials found absent or negligent in performing their duties,” Dr. Waqar said.
