Rawalpindi: The District Health Authority (DHA) Rawalpindi has reported 30 new dengue cases in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed cases this year to 865, though no fatalities have been recorded so far.
According to officials, 75 patients are currently under treatment in different hospitals across the district.
In an intensified crackdown against violations of dengue prevention Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the authorities have registered 4,455 FIRs, sealed 1,850 premises, issued 3,493 challans, and imposed fines exceeding Rs 10.87 million for breeding-site negligence.
“These punitive measures are essential to ensure public cooperation in eliminating mosquito breeding sites,” said Dr Waqar, spokesman for the District Health Authority, while speaking to APP.

He said the new cases were detected across 24 localities, indicating localized transmission within urban centers. The affected areas include Bani, Dhoke Mangtal, Pindora, Bijnyal, Dhama Syedan, Gangal, Pirwadahi, Chak Jalal Din, Dhamyal, Khayaban-Shumali, Qayumabad, CTC-10, Dhoke Dalal, Kotha Kallan, Ranyal, CTC-9, Dhoke Kala Khan, Kulyal, Ratta Amral, CTR-13, Dhoke Kashmirian, New Parian F-Block, Rehmatabad, and Takhat Pari.
Dr Waqar urged residents to remove stagnant water from rooftops, drains, and containers to break the Aedes mosquito breeding cycle.
“With no deaths reported, our proactive surveillance is showing results, but community vigilance remains crucial to keeping the situation under control,” he added.
He warned that recent rains, dropping temperatures, and poor sanitation could create favorable conditions for mosquito breeding if preventive measures are not maintained.
The DHA spokesman reiterated that health teams are pursuing a multi-pronged strategy, including fogging drives, larvicidal operations, and public awareness campaigns, to curb further spread of the virus.
He reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to strictly enforcing dengue control SOPs and urged citizens to fully cooperate with ongoing anti-dengue efforts to protect public health.
