Rawalpindi Put on High Alert, 4,300 Police Deployed

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Police have deployed more than 4,300 officers and personnel across the city to maintain law and order and ensure public safety, as the city remains on high security alert.

The deployment has been carried out on the special directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani, a police spokesperson confirmed. 

Senior police officers are present in the field to personally supervise security arrangements, while special pickets have been set up at 82 key locations. Strict checking is ongoing at all major entry and exit points of the city.

Section 144 remains in force, and authorities have warned that illegal gatherings, rallies and sit-ins will not be tolerated. 

A ban on pillion riding has also been imposed, while police mobile units, along with Elite Force and Dolphin Force teams, are conducting regular patrolling across the city.

The city is being continuously monitored through Safe City and other surveillance cameras to ensure effective security coverage.

CPO Hamdani emphasized that any attempt to disturb law and order would be dealt with strictly, adding that the protection of citizens’ lives and property remains the top priority of Rawalpindi Police.

Meanwhile, stringent security arrangements have also been put in place at churches across Rawalpindi. More than 430 police officers and personnel have been deployed specifically to ensure the safety of worshippers.

Divisional SPs and SDPOs are actively inspecting security duties and briefing on-duty officers. Elite commandos and special mobile police teams are patrolling sensitive areas, while special pickets have been established around churches.

Entry into churches is being allowed only after thorough body searches, with officers maintaining close surveillance of surroundings and keeping a watch on suspicious individuals.

CPO Syed Khalid Mahmood Hamdani stressed that ensuring the safety of worshippers is a top priority and instructed officers to interact politely with members of religious communities. He said all available resources are being utilized to protect minority rights, promote interfaith harmony and maintain peace and order in the city.

The CPO reiterated that Rawalpindi Police remain fully committed to safeguarding citizens’ lives and property at all times.
