Rawalpindi Police Impounds 964 Unfit PSVs

Rawalpindi: In an ongoing campaign against unfit public service vehicles (PSVs), Rawalpindi police have impounded 964 vehicles over the past 53 days.
According to a police spokesman, the drive was launched on the instructions of City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani. During the campaign, route permits and licenses of PSV drivers were also thoroughly checked.
In addition to impounding the vehicles, police issued challans to 8,032 vehicles, with fines amounting to over Rs 8.7 million imposed on owners and drivers for various violations of the law.
Legal action was also taken against 684 drivers for driving without a valid license, while licenses of 27 individuals were canceled due to negligence.
Furthermore, 52 cases were registered against the drivers and owners of PSVs. The spokesman added that legal action would also be taken against managers who allowed unfit vehicles to operate from their terminals.
