Rawalpindi Launches One Window Operation for Housing

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi district administration has established a One Window Operation Center at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in connection with the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” project.
According to a district administration spokesperson, Saif Anwar Jappa, Director General (DG) of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA), visited the center to review its administrative operations. During the visit, Jappa assessed the facilities provided to the citizens and interacted with individuals seeking information about the project.
The DG also inquired about the quality of services offered at the center from the citizens present.
Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Hasan Waqar Cheema briefed Jappa on the project’s details, with Additional Deputy Commissioner General Hassan Tariq and Chaudhry Saeed Ahmed from the Benazir Bhutto Income Support Program also in attendance.
Jappa emphasized that the housing project aims to address the housing needs of low-income families, including workers and laborers, enabling them to own their homes.
The “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” initiative, launched by Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is designed to assist individuals who own land but cannot afford to build their homes.
In its first phase, the project will offer interest-free loans to 70,000 families for house construction, with repayment over seven years. The loans will have a monthly installment of Rs 14,000, with no payments required for the first three months.
Eligibility includes owners of plots ranging from 1 to 5 marlas in urban areas and 10 marlas in rural areas. Interested individuals meeting the project criteria can obtain information from the One Window Operation Center established at the DC Office Rawalpindi.
