Rawalpindi: The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to kick off at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with Bangladesh facing New Zealand in the tournament’s opening match on Monday.

Cricket enthusiasts in Rawalpindi are eagerly awaiting the high-stakes clash, which will influence the points table standings.

The city is abuzz with excitement as preparations for the mega event have been finalized.

According to a police spokesperson, extensive security arrangements have been put in place to ensure a safe and smooth experience for spectators.

Over 5,000 police personnel, including Dolphin Force, Elite Force, and expert snipers positioned on key rooftops, have been deployed. Security efforts are being coordinated with the Pakistan Army, Rangers, and other agencies to create a secure environment for cricket fans.

Spectators attending the match will be required to adhere to strict security protocols, including triple-layered security checks and walkthrough gates. Carrying unauthorized equipment is strictly prohibited.

Rawalpindi will also host two other crucial matches: Australia vs. South Africa on February 25 and Pakistan vs. Bangladesh on February 27. All matches will follow the day-night format, promising an exciting cricketing spectacle for fans.

The Champions Trophy has ignited fresh enthusiasm in Rawalpindi, a city known for producing cricketing legends such as Miran Bakhsh, Shoaib Akhtar, Shadab Khan, Sohail Tanvir, Yasir Arafat, and Mohammad Wasim.
