Rawalpindi: Out of the 1,000 kanals of land designated for the Rakh Dhamial cemetery, 500 kanals have been allocated for Rawalpindi residents. This includes 400 kanals for the residents of Rawalpindi city and Cantonment and 100 kanals specifically designated for Chaklala Cantonment residents.
Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha inaugurated the graveyard developed on 100 kanals for non-Muslim communities in the Rakh Dhamial area of Rawalpindi on Saturday.
Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) Chairman Saqib Rafiq said on Monday that the newly inaugurated Rakh Dhamaial graveyard would be made into a model cemetery.
The RWMC will maintain cleanliness in the graveyard; the graveyard’s boundary wall for Muslims has been completed while the ground levelling work is in progress.
Saqib said that 100 kanals of the graveyard had been allocated to minorities.
Rakh Dhamiyal graveyard was a long-standing problem for the residents of Rawalpindi, for which the joint efforts of the administration and the RWMC have yielded results, added Saqib.
