Rakh Dhamial Cemetery: 450 Kanals Land Allocated For Cantt Residents

Rawalpindi: Out of the 1,000 kanals of land designated for the Rakh Dhamial cemetery, 450 kanals have been allocated to the Chaklala and Rawalpindi Cantonment Boards and 450 kanals to the Municipal Corporation, with the remaining 100 kanals going to the minorities, said Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaquat Ali Chatta.

Liaquat Ali informed that solid steps are being taken to make RakhDhamial Cemetery a model graveyard and construction work on the walls has been completed. The funeral prayer area is also ready, and the administration has arranged special bus and ambulance services to facilitate the residents, added Chatta.

According to the Commissioner, it would be a great relief for the residents of the city and Cantt Board areaswho were having long-standing issues because there were no suitable burial grounds in the city.

The graveyard charge, which was set at Rs. 5,000, would not be collected from anyone who could not pay it, Commissioner Ali further said.

Chatta added that the Municipal Corporation and Rawalpindi Waste Management Company would ensure cleanliness in the cemetery.
