Rainwater from Low-Lying Areas Drained: WASA

Rawalpindi: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi drained rainwater from low-lying areas following heavy rainfall in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Thursday.
According to a WASA spokesperson, the water level in Nullah Lai began receding at 11:30 AM. The highest rainfall recorded was 89 mm at PMD, H-8. Other recorded rainfall amounts included 68 mm at Shamsabad, 36 mm at Kutchery, 40 mm at Saidpur, and 73 mm at Bokra.
The spokesperson confirmed that drainage of rainwater from the city’s low-lying areas has been completed, and traffic is moving normally on city roads as there is no stagnant water.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain, and WASA has taken precautionary measures to address potential urban flooding. Staff leave has been canceled, and heavy machinery has been deployed to vulnerable points.
