Islamabad: After a prolonged period of poor air quality and persistent smog, rainfall is forecasted in the country’s upper regions, starting November 14, as per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

This weather change is expected to alleviate smog, improve air quality, and bring relief to residents.

According to PMD, a frontal weather system is set to bring rain, wind, and thunderstorms with mountain snowfall in upper areas from the evening of November 14 through November 16.

The affected regions include Chitral, Dir, Swat, and parts of Malakand, Khyber, and Gilgit-Baltistan, along with areas in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, such as Neelum Valley and Muzaffarabad.

Light rain and wind/thunderstorms are also anticipated in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Lahore, and other areas of Punjab, as well as parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan on November 14 and 15.

PMD warns of dense fog likely developing in Punjab’s plains following the wet spell and advises farmers to plan activities accordingly. Travelers and tourists are urged to exercise caution, while local authorities have been advised to stay alert and prepare for potential impacts during the forecast period.
