Rain-Wind/Thunderstorm In Coming Ways with Sporadic Gaps

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted that most parts of the country are expected to experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms from March 16 to 20. decreasing the daytime temperatures to6 to 8 °C.

A westerly wave likely to enter upper parts of the country on March 16 (Thursday) and would grip upper and central parts on March 17 and may persist till March 20. Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind-thunderstorm is forecast in various parts of Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sindh, Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In KP, rain-wind/thunderstorm with few heavy falls is expected from March 16-20 in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Haripur, Karak, Peshawar, Kohat, Charsada, Nowshera, Swabi, Bajaur, Kurram, Waziristan, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan.

In Punjab and Islamabad, rain-wind-dust/thunderstorm with isolated heavy fall and hailstorm is expected from March 16-20in Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore.

Rain-wind/thunderstorm is likely to occurfrom March 17-19 in Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Khushab, Mianwali, Sargodha, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addu, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Pakpattan and Bahawalpur.

In Sindh, wind-dust/thunderstorm-rain is forcastfrom March 17-19in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpurkhas, Dadu, and Karachi. In Balochistan,wind-dust/thunderstorm-rain is expected from March 17-19in Quetta, Zhob, Khuzdar, Naseerabad, Dera Bugti, Barkhan, Harnai, Qila Saifullah, Qillah Abdullah, Chamman, and Pishin.

In Kashmir and GB rain-wind/thunderstorm with few heavy falls and hailstorm is predictedin Kashmir (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur), GB (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar)from March 16-20.

According to the PMD’s analysis of the potential effects, wind and hailstorms might harm the nation’s standing crops and unsecured infrastructure. During the spell, the daytime temperature is predicted to drop by 6 to 8 °C. The Barani regions of Punjab, KP, Kashmir, and GB would benefit from the rain.

During the projected period, it is not possible to rule out the risk of landslides in the mountainous regions of KP, GB, Kashmir, Murree, and Galliyat. The Met Office states that the forecast period should be a time of increased caution. In order to prevent any undesirable circumstances throughout the forecast period, the relevant authorities have also been urged to exercise caution.

Weather for KP

The PMD forecasted a five-day rainy period in KP from March 16–20. A westerly wave is anticipated to approach western parts of the country on Thursday (March 16) and could linger through Monday. Meanwhile, the Provincial Meteorological Center (PMC) predicted dry weather in most districts of the province.

Rain-wind thunderstorms and hailstorms are likely to occur in Chitral, Lower and Upper Dir, Malakand, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Torghar, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Nowshera, Peshawar, Charsadda, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Orakzai, Hangu, Karak, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, and in the districts of North and South Waziristan Isolated snowfall over the high mountains of Chitral, Dir, Upper Swat, and Kohistan districts is expected during the forecast period.

Rain may trigger landslides in vulnerable areas of Chitral, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, Battagram, Torghar, Mansehra, and Abbottabad districts. Tourists are advised to remain extra cautious during the period.

Meanwhile, the Met Office stated that an afternoon rain-thunderstorm with strong gusts is predicted to pass over the districts of Mansehra and Abbottabad. Most of the province saw dry weather over the past 24 hours. Nonetheless, the Khyber district had a rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds.

Dry, partly cloudy weather for Sargodha

The local Meteorological department on Tuesday expected dry and partly overcast weather for Sargodha division throughout the next 24 hours. Nonetheless, a rainy period is anticipated in the division over the next two to three days. The next 48 hours are expected to be partly overcast in Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali, and the neighbouring areas, according to the Met Office.
