Rain to Lash Upper Parts of Country from Oct 5-8: PMD

Islamabad: After days of hot and dry weather, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain-wind/thunderstorms across the upper parts of the country from October 5-8.

A westerly wave is expected to reach the upper regions on October 5, bringing rain, wind, and isolated hailstorms to areas including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, and several districts of Punjab like Attock, Chakwal, Lahore, Sialkot, and Faisalabad between October 5-8.

Similarly, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and surrounding areas may experience rain from October 6-8, with occasional gaps. 

KP regions such as Chitral, Swat, Peshawar, and Mansehra are also expected to receive rain and thunderstorms, with some areas witnessing heavy rainfall and hailstorms during the same period.

In Kashmir, moderate to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is expected in Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, and other districts. Gilgit-Baltistan will also experience rain and thunderstorms, especially in Diamer, Skardu, and Hunza.

Balochistan’s Quetta, Zhob, and Lasbella areas may see rain on October 6-7, while most of Sindh is forecast to remain hot and dry.

The PMD has warned of possible increased flow in local streams and nullahs in areas like Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Landslides could also disrupt road traffic in parts of upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, and Kashmir.

Windstorms and lightning pose risks to weak structures such as kacha houses, billboards, and vehicles. Farmers have been advised to manage their activities accordingly, while travelers and tourists are urged to stay cautious and adjust their plans to avoid any hazards during the wet spell.

Authorities have been directed to stay alert and take necessary precautions to prevent any untoward incidents during the forecast period.
