Islamabad: Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and stormy winds on Thursday evening caused widespread power outages across several areas under the jurisdiction of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO).

According to an IESCO spokesperson, the inclement weather triggered faults and tripping on multiple 11kV feeders, leading to electricity disruptions in various sectors.

Affected feeders include those located on Service Road East, Shahdara, Waris Haveli, Chakra, Khanna Road, Charing Cross, and New Race Course. Power outages were also reported in areas served by the Shams Colony, Dhok Khaba, Wilayat Complex, Kohala, Murtakot, and Jabi feeders.

Field teams have been mobilized and are actively working to rectify faults on individual feeders and address transformer-related issues to restore electricity at the earliest.

The company has advised residents to maintain a safe distance from power infrastructure such as lines, poles, transformers, and meters during this time. Consumers are encouraged to report outages or hazards through local complaint offices or by calling the IESCO helpline at 118.

The IESCO management has apologized for the inconvenience caused and assured the public that all necessary efforts are underway to resume normal power supply as quickly as possible.
