Rain, Snowfall Expected in Murree, Galyat Starting February 25

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall over the hills in popular tourist destinations like Murree, Galyat, and others from Sunday night to Tuesday (February 25-27). This weather pattern is attributed to a westerly wave expected to enter Balochistan on Sunday night and affect the upper parts of the country by Monday.
Under the influence of this weather system, various regions including Murree, Galyat, Chitral, Dir, Swat, and others are likely to experience rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall from February 25 night to February 27, with occasional breaks.
Additionally, isolated hailstorms may occur during this period.
Potential impacts and precautions: Snowfall could disrupt traffic in several areas such as Murree, Galyat, Naran, Kaghan, and others on February 26 evening/night and February 27.

There’s also a possibility of landslides in Murree, Galyat, Upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan during the forecast period.
Murree’s minimum temperature is expected to range between -2 to 0 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.
Previously, freezing weather was experienced in Murree, Galyat, and other tourist spots in Pakistan, with Malam Jabba receiving 03 mm of rain and 01 inch of snowfall.
Kalam recorded the coldest temperature, dropping 13 degrees Celsius below freezing. In Murree, the minimum temperature was measured at -01 degree Celsius, with a relative humidity of 76 percent during the evening.
