Bahawalpur: A windstorm accompanied by heavy rain wreaked havoc in the Hasilpur area of Bahawalpur district on the night between Thursday and Friday.

The weather in the Bahawalpur region changed suddenly on Thursday evening as strong winds began blowing, followed by intermittent heavy rain.

The windstorm and heavy rain damaged trees and several electricity poles in Hasilpur. An electricity transformer in the area was also damaged.

However, teams from the district management and Multan Electricity Company (MEPCO) were working to resolve the electricity issues caused by the storm.

In Bahawalpur city, the heavy rain overwhelmed the sewerage system in some areas, causing water accumulation on several main roads.

Teams from the Municipal Corporation Bahawalpur have been deployed to drain the accumulated rainwater.

The heavy rains have affected other parts of the region as well, including Khairpur Tamewali, Qaimpur, Lal Suhanra, Dera Bakha, Sama Satta, Yazman, and the Cholistan desert area.

The local Met Office has forecasted that the region may experience more rain in the next 24 hours. The rain has lowered the temperature, making the weather more pleasant.
