Rain Likely in Northern Areas, Upper KP, Northeast Punjab

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly cold and dry weather for most parts of the country over the next 24 hours.

However, rain, wind, and thunderstorms, with snowfall over mountains, are expected at isolated locations in Kashmir, northeast Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Light to moderate fog in patches is also expected in northeastern Punjab during the morning hours.

According to the synoptic situation, continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country, while a westerly wave is likely to approach the western and upper regions by tonight.

Over the past 24 hours, most parts of the country experienced cold and dry weather, with very cold conditions over mountainous regions. Shallow to moderate fog was observed in northeastern Punjab.

The lowest recorded minimum temperatures were:

Leh: -11°C

Astore, Gupis, Ziarat: -06°C

Kalam, Kalat: -05°C

Bagrote, Skardu, Gilgit: -04°C

Parachinar, Quetta: -03°C
