Rain Hit Parts Of Country, More Rain Predicted

News Desk

Islamabad: Rain with varying degrees of intensity lashed out in various parts of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Friday, making the weather pleasant and giving the heat-stricken population much-needed relief.

After a day of extremely hot and humid weather, a rain-wind-thundershower began in the federal capital at 5:00 p.m., breaking the intensity of the sweltering weather.

Young people in the capital city were observed enjoying the rainy evening from their homes and balconies. The country’s upper and central areas are continuously impacted by monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea, and this trend is expected to continue over the next few days.

A westerly wave also entered the upper parts of the country on Friday night.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rain, wind, and thundershowers are likely to occur in Kashmir, the Potohar region, Islamabad, the upper Punjab, and the upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Heavy Falls are also likely at isolated places in the Potohar region, Kashmir and upper KP during the forecast period. Hot and humid weather is likely elsewhere in the country.

During the last 24 hours, the weather remained hot and humid in most parts of the country. However, rain, wind, and thunderstorms occurred at isolated places in central and southern Punjab. The rainfall recorded during the period was in Punjab: Faisalabad, Bahawalpur (Airport), 29mm, Dera Ghazi Khan, 06 mm, and Sahiwal, 01mm.

Farmers are encouraged to manage their operations in light of the weather forecast in the meantime. Travelers and tourists are advised to use additional caution to stay safe during the wet season.

A dust storm or wind-and-thunder storm might harm flimsy buildings like solar panels and utility poles. During gales and torrential downpours, the general public is encouraged to remain in secure locations. The predicted period is a time when all relevant authorities are urged to exercise prudence and remain vigilant.

Dry to partly cloudy weather for Bahawalpur

Heavy rain lashed Bahawalpur city and adjoining areas, turning the weather pleasant. The rain started at around 5 a.m. on Friday morning and continued for about an hour.

However, the workers of Municipal Corporation Bahawalpur were seen draining out rainwater that had accumulated on roads in several areas of the city. The accumulation of rainwater on the roads also disrupted routine traffic.

The local Met Office forecast dry to partly cloudy weather for the city over the next 24 hours. The highest maximum temperature of 38°C and the lowest minimum temperature of 29°C were recorded during the last 24 hours. Dry to partly cloudy weather has also been forecast for the rest of the region.
