Rain forecast for Lahore; snowfall for northern areas

Lahore: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain in Lahore and several parts of Punjab, while heavy snowfall is expected in northern regions as a westerly weather system enters the country.
According to the PMD, rain is likely in various cities of Punjab, including Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Sargodha, over the coming days. Heavy snowfall is expected in Murree, Galiyat, Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Kalam, which may disrupt travel in hilly areas.

The Met Office said rain and snowfall are expected in Murree, Galiyat, and surrounding areas from January 18 to 20. From January 20 to 23, rain is forecast for Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Islamabad, Murree, Galiyat, the Potohar region, and several divisions of Punjab, including Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sahiwal, Multan, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur.
Rain and snowfall are also likely in parts of Balochistan during the coming week, the department added.
The PMD has advised travellers and tourists to exercise caution, particularly in mountainous areas, due to the risk of road closures and reduced visibility during heavy snowfall.
