Rain Brings Relief: Lahore Clears Smog, Pollution Levels Drop

Lahore: The provincial capital received an early morning light to moderate shower on Friday which turned the weather pleasantly cool and subsided the smoggy conditions.

The collective impact of this weather phenomenon has reduced pollution levels and brought relief to residents, allowing them to enjoy a much-needed break from the persistent smog that had blanketed the city.

Widespread rain covered various areas of the city, including the airport, Qartaba Chowk, Ferozepur Road, Green Town, Walled City, Shadman, Mughalpura, Harbanspura, Defence, Iqbal Tow, Samanabad and Sabzazar.

According to the Punjab Environment Protection Department report, the air quality of the city is expected to improve after the shower. While the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded as very unhealthy at Lahore College for Women University (336), Town Hall (329), and Punjab University (287) during the last 24 hours

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) spokesman informed that mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the province, including the city, during the next 24 hours.Meanwhile, fog or smog is likely to occur in plain areas in the morning hours.
