Rain and Snowfall Hit Pakistan; Karachi to Stay Clear

Karachi/Quetta: Various regions across the country experienced significant rainfall and snowfall, while Karachi’s weather is expected to remain clear with intermittent strong winds, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast on Monday.
In Punjab, several areas including Multan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore received moderate to heavy rainfall.
Balochistan also saw moderate to heavy rainfall in areas such as Qila Abdullah, Pishin, Saranan, Gulistan, Huramzai, Muslim Bagh, Sinjawi, Duki, Harnai, Loralai, Mekhtar, and Khanozai. The regions near the borders with Afghanistan and Iran also experienced hailstorms, while Ziarat, Toba Achakzai, and Toba Kakri received snowfall.
As a result of the rain and snowfall, the weather in most districts of Balochistan, including Quetta, is expected to remain partly cloudy and cold, according to the PMD.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, areas such as Muzaffarabad, Bhimber, Bagh, Nakyal, and Dhirkot received moderate to heavy rainfall.
Additionally, significant snowfall was reported in Neelum Valley, Arang Kel, Halmat, Taobat, Grace Valley, Shounter Valley, Sargan Valley, Jagran Valley, Upper Neelum, Lawat Bala, Sharda, Astore Valley, Diamir, Babusar Top, Nanga Parbat, Niyat Darel, Tangir, and Skardu.
The snowfall has led to road closures in several areas, and regular flights from Islamabad to Skardu have been canceled.
Meanwhile, the PMD recorded a minimum temperature of 19.5°C in Karachi on Monday and expects the city’s maximum temperature to range from 29°C to 31°C. With 79% humidity and cool northwest winds blowing intermittently, Karachi’s weather is currently a mix of partial cloud cover and sunshine.
In Balochistan, a minimum temperature of 4°C was recorded in Quetta on Monday, while Kalat recorded 5°C. Sibi had a minimum temperature of 14°C, and Turbat and Gwadar both recorded 17°C.
