Quarrel over meal ends in murder-suicide at Islamabad

Islamabad: A tragic incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Humak Police Station, Model Town, where a young man fatally shot his female co-worker following a minor quarrel at a private restaurant before taking his own life.

According to police officials, the deceased were identified as Mehran Asghar, a resident of Kahuta, and the female victim, a resident of Gujar Khan. Both were factory workers who had visited the restaurant along with another female colleague.

As per FIR No. 976/25 registered at Humak Police Station, the three were dining together when a verbal altercation broke out between Mehran and the woman. In a fit of rage, Mehran pulled out a pistol, shot the woman, and then turned the weapon on himself.

Eyewitnesses immediately alerted Rescue 1122 and police. Emergency responders rushed the injured woman to Polyclinic Hospital, but she succumbed to her wounds on the way.

Police recovered the pistol used in the incident from the scene, along with identity documents belonging to both deceased. The third woman fled the restaurant in shock; her statement will be recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities have handed over the bodies for post-mortem examination and initiated a detailed inquiry to determine the circumstances and motive behind the incident.

Police officials have termed the shooting a tragic outcome of a personal dispute, urging citizens to seek peaceful resolution to conflicts and avoid the use of violence in any form.
