Islamabad: Shahzaman Ali Khan delivered a standout performance on Pakistan Idol, drawing strong emotional reactions from audiences and prompting comparisons with legendary qawwali maestro Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

The son of acclaimed singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shahzaman captured widespread attention with his composed stage presence and emotive vocal delivery, quickly becoming a trending topic on social media. Viewers praised his vocal control, maturity, and ability to convey depth beyond his years.

For his performance, Shahzaman chose the iconic qawwali “Kise Da Yaar Na Vichre,” a composition deeply rooted in South Asian musical tradition and famously popularised by the late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

As the episode aired, social media platforms were flooded with clips of the performance, highlighting his restrained interpretation and emotional nuance. One viewer remarked that the rendition evoked memories of 1990s PTV dramas, underscoring the enduring cultural resonance of the qawwali.

While comparisons to his father and grand-uncle were inevitable, many viewers noted that Shahzaman avoided imitation, opting instead for a sincere and individual expression that distinguished his performance.
