QAU Hostel Case: Court Grants Bail to 29 Arrested Students

News Desk

Islamabad: A local court in Islamabad on Thursday granted post-arrest bail to 29 students who were detained during a recent police operation at the Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) hostel.

The students had been arrested in connection with a case registered at the Secretariat police station amid tensions surrounding the university administration’s push to vacate the hostel. The move had reportedly triggered confrontations between students and law enforcement officials.

Judicial Magistrate Mureed Abbas announced the decision after hearing arguments from both sides. Representing the students, President of the District Bar Association Advocate Naeem Gujjar, along with other lawyers, challenged the legality of the arrests and requested bail on legal and humanitarian grounds.

After reviewing the case details, the court approved the bail applications and ordered the release of all 29 students upon submission of surety bonds worth Rs 50,000 each.
