Qaqlasht Festival Kicks Off in Upper Chitral

Peshawar: The four-day vibrant Qaqlasht Festival began on Friday in the picturesque Upper Chitral district, drawing large crowds of tourists and locals alike.
Organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Department, the event features a blend of traditional sports and cultural activities. Highlights include polo, football, cricket, volleyball, and other indigenous games, all set against the scenic backdrop of Qaqlasht.
Upper Chitral Deputy Commissioner Haseebur Rehman Khan Khalil formally inaugurated the festival. The opening ceremony was attended by the District Police Officer, Assistant Commissioner, and a large number of visitors and spectators.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of promoting healthy recreational activities, stating that such events contribute to the physical and mental well-being of youth. He added that young people who engage in sports are better equipped to represent their region and country at national and international levels.
He also reiterated the district administration’s full support for the successful organization of the festival.
