Punjab Reports 97 New Dengue Cases

Lahore: Punjab remains gripped by the dengue virus, with 97 new cases reported on Sunday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 14,432 this year. The virus has spread to all 36 districts in the province.

Lahore remains the worst-affected district with 6,602 cases, followed by Rawalpindi with 2,633, Gujranwala with 1,533, Multan with 1,379, and Faisalabad with 851 cases.

The latest surge in cases includes 61 new cases in Lahore, 2 in Rawalpindi, 11 in Gujranwala, 10 in Multan, 4 in Faisalabad, and 2 in Sheikhupura. Narowal, Okara, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Vehari, Lodhran, and Khoshab have also reported one case each within the past 24 hours.

Currently, 72 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals across Punjab, with 38 of them in Lahore district hospitals.

Punjab Health Secretary Ali Jaan Khan has urged citizens to maintain clean and dry surroundings to prevent the spread of dengue fever. He also appealed for cooperation with health department teams working to combat the outbreak.

A free helpline (1033) is available through the health department for those seeking dengue treatment, information, or wishing to register complaints.
