Punjab Govt Allocates Rs 6.5 Billion for Tourism

Lahore: The Punjab government has allocated Rs 6.5 billion for tourism in the financial year 2024-25, according to a budgetary document released on Thursday.
Committed to prioritizing the tourism sector, the government has designated these funds for 31 projects, including 16 ongoing projects receiving Rs 496.9 million and 15 new projects with an allocation of Rs 6.03 billion.
For the new initiatives, funds will support the establishment of the Murree Development Programme, with an estimated cost of Rs 10 billion, of which Rs 5 billion is earmarked for the financial year 2024-25. Additionally, Rs 75 million is allocated for the Strengthening and Digitalization of ITHM and Provision of Missing Facilities, Rs 250 million for Designing, Promoting, and Implementing Eco-Friendly Tourist Facilities in Punjab, Rs 50 million for Automation of DTS Lahore, and Rs 150 million for Establishment of Technical Facilities, Conservation Lab, and Visitor Services in Lahore.
Further allocations include Rs 70 million for the Establishment of a Business Development Cell, Rs 50 million for Digital Mapping of Tourism Sites in Punjab, Rs 20 million for Establishment of Tourism Huts at River Indus, and Rs 60 million for Provision of Missing Facilities for Tourism at TDCP Patriata Chairlift in Murree.
Feasibility studies have also been funded with Rs 1 million each for the Construction of a Glass Bridge in Murree, Establishment of an Eco-Friendly Park, and Installation of a Chairlift at Kotli Sattian.
Other projects include Rs 95.06 million for Establishment of an Eco-Friendly Glamping Pod Village at Chewra Hill, Rs 80 million for Design and Establishment of a Cable Car at Kala Bagh Mianwali, and Rs 100 million for the Establishment of Darshan Resort at Kartarpur.
