Punjab Extends Holidays of Educational Institutions by a Week

Lahore: In view of the severe cold and to safeguard the health of students, the Punjab government has extended the holidays of educational institutions by a week. The decision was announced by Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat via his social media page.
The minister stated that the extension was based on public consultation and a social media survey, in which a clear majority supported the move. According to the survey, about 87 percent of participants favored reopening schools on January 19, while 13 percent preferred reopening on January 12.
A total of 154,178 votes were cast in favor of extending the holidays, compared to 24,829 votes for the earlier date.
Rana Sikandar Hayat confirmed that all educational institutions across Punjab will now reopen from January 19.
