News Desk
Lahore: The Punjab government has introduced its “Free WiFi” initiative in Nankana Sahib following its successful implementation in Lahore and Kasur.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz highlighted that the project has seen significant success, with over five million users benefiting from the free internet service in Lahore.
She also announced upcoming Safe Cities projects for Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala, with plans to expand the initiative to eighteen cities across Punjab.
In response to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s instructions, the free Wi-Fi service coverage in Lahore has been increased from 100 to 200 locations.
The new Wi-Fi service is now available in areas such as Manga Mandi, Multan Road, Bund Road, Chuhng, Shahpur Kanjran, Sundar, Valencia, and Maraka, among others.
This free emergency Wi-Fi, part of the ‘Digital Punjab’ initiative, allows users to contact the police, reach family members, and use the Women Safety App, Punjab Police App, and WhatsApp during emergencies.
However, it does not provide access to entertainment apps like Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. Each Wi-Fi device in Lahore covers up to 300 feet from its location.
