Punjab Announces Holidays as Rains Submerge City, Villages

News Desk

Pasrur: The district administration on Wednesday announced a holiday for all private and government schools in Pasrur after heavy rains and overflowing drains inundated large parts of the city and surrounding villages.

Officials said continuous rainfall breached drainage dykes and safety barriers, allowing water to enter more than a hundred villages. Thousands of acres of paddy and fodder crops are under water, while main city roads and the railway track have also been submerged, disrupting traffic across the area.

Authorities confirmed that the closure of schools was a precautionary measure to ensure students’ safety, as several routes leading to educational institutions had become impassable.
