Punjab Allocates Rs 5 Billion for NA-53 Road Projects

Rawalpindi: The government has approved Rs 5 billion for the construction and repair of roads in Rawalpindi’s NA-53 constituency, including a major remodeling project of Kachehri, which will receive 2 billion rupees.

Rs 1.5 billion has been allocated for the Adiala Road Flyover, another critical project for Rawalpindi, while Rs 20 crores will be spent on completing the Mahuta-Mohra Dam.

Member National Assembly (MNA) and Chairman Coordination Committee, Eng Raja Qamar ul Islam shared details of the development schemes for his constituency approved in the 2024-25 budget.

He mentioned that Rs 5 crores for Rescue 1122 and Rs 1.34 crore for the completion of Girls College Jhata Hathial have been sanctioned.

He noted that many significant projects in NA-53 have been approved in the budget. With a cost of 2 billion rupees, the road from Khawaja Corporation to Gorakhpur is being constructed and widened, along with a flyover at Khawaja Corporation costing 1.5 billion rupees to address severe congestion.

This project will benefit residents and travelers in Chontra, Rawat, Dhamman, Kaliyal, Dhamial, Adiala, and Gorakhpur areas.

Rs 35 crores will be released this financial year for the construction of the road from Chakri Adda to Haryanwala via Bilawal Adda. A grant of Rs 6.2 million has been approved for the construction of the Chakri-Dhadambar road, which will be completed within the same financial year. 

Additionally, Rs 10.35 crores will be spent on the Harka-Basali road, and Rs 5.5 crores on the remaining work on Kararr Road.

Another crucial road connecting Chakri Road with Adiala areas through Jarar Camp-Kachi Jorian will be constructed at a cost of Rs 21 crores. 

Although only Rs 1.03 crore will be released this year, efforts will be made to complete it by releasing more funds within this financial year.

The Jorian-Chakri Road construction will be handled separately, with Rs. 27 crores allocated for it. Moreover, Rs 5 crores will be used to complete the Moorat Road from Main Chakri Road.

Eng. Qamar mentioned that the Chakri-Jorian Road project, previously funded by MNA funds, will now be part of the mega projects. Currently, only Rs 2 crores are available, but more funds will be sought for the Jorian-Chakri and Kuchi Jorian-Jarrar Camp Roads.

The Chuck Beley Bypass will be completed this year at a cost of Rs 4.84 crores
