Islamabad: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police’s emergency helpline “Pucar-15” received a significant number of calls in October, aiding citizens with various emergencies in the federal capital.
The helpline recorded 152,300 calls, of which 15,845 received guidance, and 9,837 required immediate police assistance, according to a public relations officer.
The helpline, part of the Safe City initiative, promptly dispatched emergency teams for valid reports. However, 126,618 calls, constituting 83 percent of the total, were unrelated.
Shakir Hussain Dawar, Director General (DG) Safe City, emphasized that hoax and unnecessary calls waste police resources and delay genuine emergency responses. He urged citizens to use the “Pucar-15” helpline responsibly to avoid impeding critical assistance.
