Rawalpindi: The three-day protests on Murree Road, Pirwadhai Mor, and Swan Camp on Jhelum Road were put to an end by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters on Thursday, and the blocked routes were reopened. Imran Khan, the head of the PTI, called for protests to be held in many areas after he was shot in the leg during a long march in Wazirabad.

At the Faizabad Interchange, where law enforcement officers were providing security, PTI supporters also got into a fight with them. In addition to burning tyres at Rawat as part of their protest, the demonstrators also blocked the Murree Road, Old Airport Road and GT Road, which significantly hampered traffic heading towards Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The City Vehicles Police set up detours for traffic coming from Murree Road, Old Airport Road, Swan Camp, and PirwadhaiMor due to the protests.

Numerous city routes were blocked by PTI workers, which greatly inconvenienced the populace because ambulance service was also suspended and numerous vehicles carrying patients to hospitals became stranded in traffic jams. “All of the detours set up by the Traffic Police on Murree Road, PirwadhaiMor, and Swan Camp have also been taken down,” a CTP spokeswoman said.
