Islamabad: The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), requesting an early hearing of his appeal for the suspension of his conviction in the £190 million reference before Eid.
The petition, submitted through Barrister Salman Safdar, stated that the case was originally scheduled for hearing on March 24. However, it could not proceed as the lead counsel was engaged in a murder case hearing at the Supreme Court.
Due to a limited number of cases on the court’s schedule, the hearing was postponed until after Eid. The petition urged the court to reschedule the suspension of sentence application alongside the main appeal before the holiday.
The federal government and the chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) have been named as respondents in the case.
