PTDC to Launch Double Decker Bus Service in Islamabad

Islamabad: Managing Director of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), Aftab ur Rehman Rana, has announced plans to launch a sightseeing double-decker bus service in Islamabad.
The announcement was made during a briefing to tourism industry stakeholders on Wednesday.
The session was attended by key officials, including Naveed Anjum, Manager of the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP); Mukhtar Ali, Manager TICs; Sadia Nauman, Manager P&P of PTDC; and representatives from Islamabad’s leading hotels.
The Islamabad Sightseeing Double Decker Bus Service is scheduled to commence in January 2025 as a joint venture between PTDC and TDCP.
The initiative aims to boost tourism in the capital city by offering a unique guided tour experience. The bus service will operate twice daily, providing pick-and-drop services from major hotels in Islamabad, allowing visitors to explore key monuments and tourist sites.
In the second phase, PTDC plans to collaborate with private sector entities to offer weekend sightseeing tours to popular tourist spots near Islamabad.
These include destinations such as Taxila, Rohtas Fort, Katas Raj Temples, Kallar Kahar, Khewra Salt Mines, Takht-e-Bahi, Murree, Patriata, and Peshawar.
Describing the project as a landmark initiative, Rana emphasized its modern, eco-friendly features and its potential to enhance Islamabad’s appeal as a gateway tourist destination.
He also highlighted PTDC’s integrated tourism plan for Islamabad, developed in collaboration with public and private stakeholders, to promote the city’s image and tourism potential.
