Islamabad: The recent light snowfall on Wednesday made the weather excellent for tourists to enjoy the brisk weather, while adventure travellers are urged to exercise caution and adhere to safety precautions while enjoying themselves in Murree and the surrounding areas.

According to the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) official, long lines of cars are backed up in the area due to the significant snowfall that the Met Office predicts will fall in Murree and other hilly places.

He said that safety precautions must be followed by commuters and visitors heading to mountainous areas in order to prevent problems, difficulties, and any unforeseen incidents.

The official stated that the country is blessed with well-known hilly regions that receive snowfall every winter. People adore snowfall, but the cold weather actually enhances the beauty and significance of these regions; adding that Pakistan’s rich and natural tourism potential draws in millions of visitors, both domestic and international.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Punjab has instructed visitors to wear long dresses to protect themselves from the flu, the common cold, and other illnesses. Commuters are advised to stop their cars periodically and avoid using the heater for longer than 10 minutes.

He quoted the PDMA advisory and stated, “All the authorities concerned are asked to be alert and cautious to direct the commuters to follow all precautionary steps to stop any loss of life and property.”

Additionally, it has been suggested to the concerned Deputy Commissioners that during the anticipated time of rain and snowfall, District Emergency Operational Centers (DEOCs) remain open and functional round-the-clock.
