PTA Lunches NTSOC To Supplement Cyber Security

Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched its National Telecom Security Operations Center (NTSOC) with the aim of securing Pakistan’s critical telecom data and infrastructure against cyber-attacks.
The NTSOC is established under the Pakistan National Cyber Security Policy 2021 and Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA 2016). It is a centralized platform for the management of cybersecurity incidents in the telecom sector.
After the issuance of the Cyber Security Policy, it becomes the country’s first sectoral Security Operations Center. It is comprised of three key components; Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM), Threat Intelligence, and Security Orchestration and Automated Response (SOAR) which have been indigenously customized to improve the country’s cyber security ranking.
The national Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) and telecom operators’ SOCs would be integrated with the NTSOC, enabling rapid and efficient incident response.
With the others coming gradually, the NTSOC has integrated six telecom operators. The project included continuous enhancements in the provided solution to stay up with changing cyber security risks.
