New York: Demonstrators gathered at Tesla dealerships across the United States, Europe, and Canada on Saturday to protest against Elon Musk, accusing him of wielding excessive influence as a top advisor to US President Donald Trump.

Waving signs with messages like “Musk is stealing our money” and “Reclaim our country,” the protests largely remained peaceful despite recent incidents of vandalism targeting Teslas—acts that US officials have condemned as “domestic terrorism.”

Nationwide and International Demonstrations

Hundreds of protesters assembled outside Tesla’s dealership in Manhattan, New York, where some denounced Musk as the world’s richest man abusing his power, while others called for the shutdown of his controversial Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has been drastically reducing federal government operations.

Amy Neifeld, a 70-year-old psychologist, said this was her first protest since marching against the Vietnam War in the 1970s.

“I’m Jewish, so I grew up with a great awareness of fascism,” she told AFP. “And it has just gotten uglier and uglier since Trump returned to the White House.”

Echoing similar sentiments, New York protester Eva Mueller accused Musk of behaving as though he were the Vice President, saying:

“He’s actively dismantling our government, he’s dismantling our democracy.”

The protest was organized by environmental activist group Planet Over Profit, which claims “stopping Musk will help save lives and protect our democracy.”

In Washington’s Georgetown neighborhood, around 150 demonstrators gathered in a festive atmosphere, dancing and cheering as passing cars honked in support.

Protests also erupted in Florida, Massachusetts, and California, as well as major European cities such as London, Berlin, and Paris.

Canada Joins the Anti-Musk Movement

In Vancouver, Canada, about 100 people protested outside a Tesla dealership. One protester, dressed in a dinosaur costume, carried a placard reading:

“You thought the Nazis were extinct? Don’t buy a Swasticar.”

Meanwhile, in Paris, France, a small group of American demonstrators held signs, including one that read:

“Send Musk to Mars now.”

One Paris protester, identified only as Raf, 59, said:

“Musk and Trump are destroying our democracy, not obeying the basic rules of our country, and firing people at agencies that do very important work.”

Tesla Remains Silent Amid Backlash

When asked for a response to the protests, Tesla did not immediately comment.

The backlash against Musk has been growing in recent weeks, fueled by his mass job cuts and alleged interference in political affairs.

Acts of vandalism against Tesla vehicles, dealerships, and facilities have been increasing, prompting US Attorney General Pam Bondi to label the attacks as “domestic terrorism.”
