Protest Disruption: Liaquat Bagh, Key Routes in Rawalpindi Closed
News Desk
Rawalpindi: In response to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest, the district administration has closed all access to Liaquat Bagh, sealing the area from all sides.
The highway connecting Murir Chowk to Liaquat Bagh has also been shut down, with containers strategically placed at six points along Sadar Road and surrounding streets completely sealed off.
Key locations including Faizabad, Shamsabad, Chandni Chowk, Rahmanabad, and Committee Chowk have been secured based on directives from the district administration.
Containers have been deployed to block the roads leading to Liaquat Bagh, further restricting access.
Additionally, the metro bus service in Rawalpindi has been suspended as a precautionary measure, with containers installed along both sides of Murree Road and Faizabad.
While the Islamabad Expressway, Faizabad Flyover, and IJP Colonel Sher Khan Road remain open for traffic, law enforcement has taken further steps to maintain order.
CPO Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani has canceled all officer leaves in light of the current law and order situation, stating that all personnel must remain on duty. The order emphasizes that any police officer who disobeys this directive will face dismissal.
As tensions rise, the authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
