Protest Demonstration in Gwadar to Sabotage CPEC: Rind
News Desk
Quetta: Shahid Rind, spokesperson for the Balochistan government, stated on Saturday that the recent demonstration in Gwadar aims to undermine the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
In a statement, Rind emphasized that the government has extended multiple invitations to the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) to address the issues through dialogue. He reiterated the offer for negotiations to resolve the matter.
Rind noted that female members of the provincial assembly have also invited the BYC to engage in discussions to find a solution.
The spokesperson emphasized that no one is above the law and warned that action would be taken against those who disrupt the peace in the province.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, in a recent address to the Balochistan Assembly, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding the right to peaceful protest. However, he stressed that while the government supports peaceful demonstrations, it will not permit anyone to violate the law.
Rind added that while the Balochistan government acknowledges the right to peaceful protest, the BYC must also respect the administration’s authority to determine the appropriate location for such protests.
He clarified that the local administration is responsible for designating protest venues.
