Pregnant Woman and Baby Die Due to Medical Access Delay
News Desk
Islamabad: A pregnant woman and her unborn child tragically lost their lives in the village of Helmat, Neelum Valley, due to inadequate medical assistance.
According to the woman’s family, she was brought to the local ADS Hospital after her health began to deteriorate. However, the hospital lacked the necessary medical staff, as there was no nurse available.
The patient was then referred to DHQ Hospital, but due to the closure of the Grace Valley road, she was unable to reach the hospital in time.
The road has been blocked for 15 days due to heavy snowfall, and the woman’s family was forced to carry her on foot. Unfortunately, she passed away while being transported.
The administration has stated that the road could not be restored because of a breakdown of the excavator. Locals have expressed their anger over the prolonged road closure, with protests against the lack of access to medical facilities in the area.
