PPP AJK Celebrates 58 Years with Tributes to ZAB & BB

Mirpur: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in Azad Jammu & Kashmir on Sunday celebrated its 58th founding anniversary with a series of ceremonies across the region, reaffirming its commitment to the legacy of its late founder, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, and his daughter, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.

Party units in every district held special programs, while the Mirpur district branch hosted the main event at the Kashmir Press Club, drawing senior officials and party stalwarts.

The celebrations began with formal ceremonies at district headquarters and local PPP offices throughout AJK, where members gathered to honour the legacy of ZAB and BB and renew their pledge to the party’s mission of uplifting the downtrodden and marginalized.

The events featured speeches, recitations, and cultural performances highlighting the PPP’s historic role in championing democracy and social justice.

In Mirpur, the central ceremony was held under the auspices of the PPP AJK Mirpur branch, with AJK Minister Mrs. Nabeela Ayub and former minister Afsar Shahid serving as chief guests.

The gathering, marked by “fabulous zest,” was also attended by District President Yasir Mumtaz, General Secretary Habib Jirraal, and former PPP Secretary-General Advocate Fareed Anwar, among other dignitaries.

Speakers paid solemn tribute to Shaheed ZAB and Shaheed BB, recalling their sacrifices for democracy, national unity, and the rights of the oppressed.

They emphasized that the best tribute to the martyrs is to continue their mission, strengthen the country’s economy, and steer Pakistan toward becoming a developed nation. Attendees were reminded of ZAB’s courage in facing the gallows and BB’s unwavering commitment to principle—both enduring symbols of the PPP’s core values.

The ceremony concluded with a unanimous expression of confidence in President Asif Ali Zardari and Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, pledging collective efforts to promote unity, solidarity, and prosperity not only in AJK but across the country.

The PPP AJK chapter reiterated its resolve to work tirelessly for the nation’s economic empowerment and to uphold the democratic ideals championed by its founding leaders.
