Polluting drinkable: 11 boats seized from Rawal Lake

Islamabad: Assistant Commissioner Secretariat Aneel Saeed on Tuesday took action against motorized boating in Lake View Park and seized 11 boats for contaminating water and polluting the environment at Rawal Dam, a major reservoir supplying water to Rawalpindi.

A joint operation was conducted by ICT administration and Capital Development Authority’s Fisheries department after boat owners violated Section 144 imposed by the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration.  

Assistant Commissioner Aneel Saeed said the ICT administration had already imposed a ban on motorized boating in Rawal Lake due to contamination of water which results from the emission of fuels used by these boats.

The boats had been handed over to the relevant police station for further legal action, the AC added. He urged the masses to cooperate with the civil administration and avoid boating in the water reservoir. APP
